Chasing the Perfect Wave: A Lesson in Determination
They say the best things in life don’t come easy, and surfing is no exception. Behind this shot of Gabriel riding a powerful wave, I was reminded that pushing yourself—despite the challenges—always pays off. This particular day, I was in Caparica without a car, carrying all my photography gear on buses and walking long distances. It wasn’t ideal—getting around with heavy equipment is much easier by car—but I knew I had to make it work.
November 2024 was special. Everyone in the surf community was talking about Praia do Norte, calling it the "European Pipeline." When I finally arrived and saw the waves, I knew they weren’t exaggerating. This photo captures the raw energy of that moment.
